If you plan to travel to the United States and do not want setbacks at the time of boarding the flight, you should know the new conditions that the authorities of that country have implemented for their visitors.
According to the Transportation Security Agency (TSA), as of this Saturday, June 30, travelers will not be able to transport in your hand baggage, substances in powder greater than 340 grams (12 ounces). These elements, such as flour, ground coffee, some powders and cosmetics, among others, must be mobilized in the luggage that you register with the airline.
The determination was also communicated to the airlines, which detailed some requirements for this type of elements. Avianca, for example, indicated on its website that powdered substances purchased at the Duty Free of airports, exceeding 340 grams must be sealed in a security bag, called Secure Tamper Evident bag (STEB).
Substances such as baby formula, medicinal powders and human remains are exempt from this restriction, as long as they have the required certification.
