Users of a website specializing in travel and tourism chose Siesta Beach, in West Florida, as the best in the United States.
The beach, located in Sarasota County, topped the list of the 50 best beaches in the United States prepared by the Tripadvisor website, based on the comments and opinions of its millions of users.
In the third edition of this classification, the state of Florida took the record by placing 9 beach destinations among the first 25 positions on this list.
Other Floridian beaches included in this classification were Saint Pete Beach, Pensacola Beach, Clearwater Beach and Saint Augustine Beach.
Tourist destination par excellence, and largely for its white sand beaches and blue sea, Florida started 2015 breaking visitor records, according to official data released this week.
According to the Visit office Florida, the state tourism promotion agency, between the months of January and March of this year the state received 28.4 million visitors, an increase of 6.2 percent over the same period last year and the highest quarter since records are kept.
Also, in 2014 Florida received more than 98 million tourists, a record annual figure and representing more than 5 percent over the previous year.
